The Sydney Boat Show is back, and it is bigger than ever. From Thursday 30 July to Sunday 2 August 2026, the Sydney Showground at Sydney Olympic Park fills with more than 120 brands, hundreds of boats and thousands of marine products. It is the largest gathering of buyers, sellers and industry in the country.
For the boating public it is a weekend of looking, comparing and getting aboard. For professional yacht brokers it is something more: four days where the whole market is in one place. Here is how the Australasian Yacht Brokers Association is thinking about the show, and how buyers and sellers can make the most of it.
The essentials
- When: Thursday 30 July to Sunday 2 August 2026.
- Where: Sydney Showground, Sydney Olympic Park.
- Who runs it: the Boating Industry Association (BIA), with delivery partner Exhibitions and Trade Fairs.
- What is there: more than 120 brands, hundreds of boats indoors and out, Australian premieres from the likes of Riviera, Maritimo and Caribbean, expert seminars and the popular Supertank fishing zone.
A separate Sydney International On-Water Boat Show, aimed at larger yachts, is scheduled for later in the year at Darling Harbour. That gives the market two genuine shop windows in 2026 rather than one.
Why the show matters to brokers
A boat show compresses months of market activity into a long weekend. Buyers who have been researching online for months finally step aboard. Sellers get their vessel in front of a qualified, motivated crowd. And brokers get to read the room: which models are drawing a queue, where the price conversations are landing, and which buyers are ready to move.
It is also where relationships are made. The best outcomes in brokerage rarely come from one broker working one listing in isolation. They come from a network of brokers who trust each other, share what they are seeing, and bring the right buyer to the right boat. That is the idea the AYBA is built around, and a show floor is where it comes to life.
More eyes on every boat. More boats you can sell. A stronger, cleaner market for everyone in it.
For buyers: how to work the show
- Do your homework first, then use the show to compare like-for-like in person. Nothing replaces standing in the cockpit.
- Speak with a broker as well as the stand staff. A good yacht broker will tell you what a boat is genuinely like to own, beyond what the spec sheet shows.
- Ask about the boats that are not on the floor. Much of the best brokerage stock never makes it to a show stand, and a broker in the network can point you to it.
For sellers: timing is everything
Show season concentrates buyer attention. If you are thinking of selling, the weeks around a major show are when interest peaks. That makes it the right time to have your vessel presented properly, priced sensibly and in front of the widest possible pool of qualified buyers. A member broker can list your boat once and put it in front of the entire trusted network, so the buyer who walks the show floor on Saturday can still find your boat on Monday.
The AYBA at the show
The Australasian Yacht Brokers Association is the professional body for yacht brokers across Australia and New Zealand. It exists to raise the standard of brokerage through a shared code of practice, trusted documentation, and a community of experienced professionals who do business the right way. If you are a broker heading to Sydney Olympic Park, come and talk to us about what membership means. If you are a buyer or seller, look for the AYBA badge. It is the mark of a broker you can trust.
